Born in Mexico, Owner Israel Velez uses ingredients imported from Mexico to make tamales from different regions across Mexico.  At City Tamales dinners can experience the taste and aromas of Mexico.

Velez started his business by using his mother’s recipe to make and sell tamales in his Bronx apartment.

 Demands was so great that two years ago he opened a restaurant in an old restaurant in the industrial area of Hunt’s Point.
